She looks forward to exploring how emerging technologies are reshaping social behaviours and to working with diverse stakeholders to design responsible AI and tech governance frameworks that reflect India’s unique priorities, ensuring that technology fosters innovation while serving people, advancing equity, and building a more sustainable and trusted digital future.
Background
Tarang Jain is a policy professional passionate about advancing responsible and inclusive technology governance. Her work sits at the intersection of emerging technology, public policy, and international affairs, with a focus on promoting ethical, transparent, and socially inclusive approaches to technology policy, especially from a Global South perspective. She began her policy journey with India’s Ministry of External Affairs, where she served as a Consultant working on foreign policy and national security issues. A Columbia University alum, her research has explored AI risks, online trust and safety, and digital policy in emerging economies. Tarang is committed to amplifying Global South voices into global tech policy debates and developing frameworks that make emerging technologies equitable, inclusive, and rooted in local realities.
