The Pranava Institute’s Executive Director and Co-founder, Shyam Krishnakumar, participated in the CEEasia Forum 2026 in Bratislava, Slovakia, contributing an Indian perspective to a panel on Europe in Global AI Cooperation.

Organised by the Central European Institute of Asian Studies (CEIAS) and the Slovak Foreign Policy Association, the two-day forum brought together around 150 experts, policymakers and scholars from 35 countries to examine Europe’s strategic interests in the Indo-Pacific and the changing relationship between technology and geopolitics.

The AI discussion explored how Europe can position itself in a global landscape increasingly shaped by the technological capabilities of the United States and China, and the role that partnerships with countries such as India could play.

Shyam highlighted India’s talent pool, innovation ecosystem and data diversity, as well as its distinctive approach to AI development. He spoke about India’s simultaneous engagement with frontier models from the US and China and efforts to build domestic capabilities, alongside the emergence of more application-focused and frugal AI models suited to Global South contexts.

The discussion also examined the differences between European and Indian approaches to AI regulation, and the potential for cooperation across the AI value chain. Shyam pointed to opportunities spanning semiconductors, compute and infrastructure through to applications, including joint accelerators, shared sandboxes and co-funded innovation in areas such as multilingual AI, climate technology, healthcare and industrial AI.

For The Pranava Institute, the forum offered an opportunity to bring perspectives from India into an important European conversation on the future of AI, technology and geopolitical cooperation.
